Potential internship location(s):  Los Angeles, CA

Motion Capture Internship: You will work with Infinity Ward's Motion Capture team in Los Angeles or Raven Software’s Motion Capture team in Wisconsin to create animation assets to test in-development tools and pipeline. You’ll have the opportunity to identify and complete animation goals of the group while assisting on their motion capture acquisition shoots, and on production assets. Learn and follow industry standards and standard processes of a multi-disciplinary Research and Development team.

  • Experience with Maya and/or Motion Builder, Blade, Faceware, other relevant software

  • Understanding of realistic human character animation

  • Very diligent and organized with a positive, pro-active and self-motivated attitude

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of FACS, human facial anatomy, facial animation and related topics will help you level up, quickly.

Character Tech Art Internship (Egerton Internship): The Egerton Internship is an opportunity within Activision’s Central Tech group in Los Angeles, created in honor of a long-time Activision artist and animator, Jamie Egerton, whom we recently lost after an 18-month battle against brain cancer. His wry sense of humor was combined with an unsurpassed work ethic and critical eye. He drove us to work harder, create new ways of doing things, and shake our heads as much as laugh. He was an irreplaceable team member, and a good friend. Jamie worked in the MoCap studio on every Call of Duty title that Treyarch has made, as well as many other games. We’ll miss his presence in the office and his Transformers Jeep in the parking lot. It’s a big pair of boots to step into, but we’re looking for a promising and tough-minded student to carry on his work here with us. This internship is a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience with character art, animation, rigging, and some of our newest game asset creation pipelines as part of our MoCap R&D team.

  • Cover letter required

  • Solid understanding of a game engine (Unity/Unreal) or C++ and object-oriented programming practices

  • Experience with Maya and Photoshop

  • Experience with realistic human character art/animation

  • Experience with Motion Builder, Blade, Z-Brush, Agisoft, Faceware and other relevant software

  • Knowledge of Motion Capture, FACS, human facial anatomy, facial animation and related topics are a plus
