About this Role

Fandom is growing! Our  Associate Commerce Editor (Gaming) opportunity is based in the United States, and reports to our Director of Commerce on the Content team.

While this role is specific to gaming & tech coverage, our team is a fan of all things entertainment so we are looking for someone who understands our brand, shares our passion for movies, TV, and games, and knows how to engage our fan base through relevant product and service recommendations. 

In this role you will join a mighty department which is distributed across the country. This position will work closely with our Director of Commerce, Commerce Managing Editor, Affiliate Director, SEO team, and wider content team to identify commerce opportunities and execute shopping stories in a fast-paced environment.  We are looking for an editor who is very creative, but also able to use data to guide decisions. This position works across multiple sites to publish stories that are focused on gaming and relevant tech, so it’s important to understand the voice and shopping-habits of the readers respective to each site.

You Will...

  • Write, edit and publish commerce content using a data-driven mindset and editorial best practices across multiple sites within Fandom
  • Assign content to writers and edit that content for both copy edits and proper affiliate link optimizations
  • Execute commerce content strategies across our brands based on affiliate conversion data, SEO keyword recommendations, and shopping sale events
  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan and execute commerce editorial calendars, that piggyback on industry tentpole events such as game launches, TV & movie releases, and non-product based reviews 
  • Edit, update, and optimize commerce content, ensuring it’s up-to-date, comprehensive, and aligned with SEO best practices and editorial standards
  • Create content across three core strategies: deals content, launches/pre-order guides and evergreen content such as best lists and reviews
  • Monitor traffic, keyword, and affiliate conversion data in order to ideate new content ideas and ensure existing content is optimized and promoted appropriately

You Have...

  • 2 - 3 years of experience working in commerce editorial
  • Experience with affiliate networks, including a basic understanding affiliate technology, and how to use affiliate data for content strategy ideation
  • Experience with SEO tools such as Google Keywords, Google Trends, ahrefs, SEMrush
  • Experience with traffic and site analytics tools such as Amplitude, Parsley
  • A solid foundation of using data to drive decision making
  • Candidates should have an extreme attention to detail, an ability to multitask and stay calm under tight deadlines, be an exceptional problem solver, and have flexibility in adapting to evolving protocols and competing priorities.

Bonus Points...

  • Deep knowledge of entertainment space - movies, tv and video games 
  • Have experience working with sites who present various commerce opportunities such as physical goods, digital goods, and services
  • If you've managed a roster of freelance writers
