The Role:

AMD Server Customer Platform Initiatives team is currently looking for engineers and have outstanding opportunity within the Server BIOS development team working on the latest ground breaking CPU technologies.

The identified candidate will be responsible for supporting AMD Server customers. You will partner with their firmware development teams to successfully develop and bring to market their products.

 

The Person:

Our ideal candidate will possess strong communication and collaboration skills. A candidate should be a highly motivated, self-learning firmware engineer and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. In this role you will be working closely with the end customer debugging and resolving issues in a timely manner to assure they can make their schedules. Strong interpersonal skills are very important while possessing a high level of integrity, be motivated, capable of optimally working with persons in other countries, and able to efficiently lead sophisticated situations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands on UEFI BIOS design and development for next generation AMD silicon
  • Design, develop, review, document, and maintain product source code in C/ASM
  • Work with multi-functional team for the firmware design and development of firmware for next generation of AMD Silicon.
  • Interact with multi-functional teams such as SOC design, Board design, Power and Performance and develop UEFI BIOS features;
  • Analyze and develop firmware per internal and external (customer) specifications
  • Perform unit and system level testing including failure analysis and debug of product issues as part of development and validation phases
  • Develop low-level firmware, system architectures, operating systems, device architectures, in partnership with hardware and ASIC design teams
  • Work with project partners turning product requirements into UEFI BIOS development plans
  • Participate in a development culture which emphasizes product quality, team accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate priorities and activities with other engineering partners to accomplish committed achievements
  • Work with firmware architects and SoC designers to implement proofs of concept and productizing new AMD silicon features.
  • Responsible for delivering high level design documents, implementation guidelines and detailed spec creation
  • Work as part of a global development team spanning multiple international sites

Preferred Experience:

15+ years BIOS/Firmware Development experience

  • Strong understanding and experience with UEFI, silicon initialization firmware code.
  • Solid understanding of PCIe , SPI, eSPI, ACPI
  • Ability to read HW schematics and board files.
  • Demonstrated success in firmware definition, design, and execution.
  • Proven understanding of x86 architecture, from both a hardware and software context.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  •  

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
