The Role:
We are seeking a Cloud Automation Engineer Manager focused on supporting cloud solutions and performance benchmarks for Mega Data centers and Cloud Service Providers for our AMD EPYC technologies.

The Person:
This is an ideal role for a technical lead looking for their next step into Management while still focusing on keyboard time or a technical manager focused on cloud orchestration.

As an Automation Manager, you will apply your DevOps knowledge and software engineering capabilities into automating benchmark workloads across our cloud providers and Lab equipment. This is a highly rewarding position, where you’ll be able to see an immediate impact from your contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the technical teams to derive optimal solutions to our CSPs.
  • Develop automation workflows from cloud benchmark deployment, metrics capture, and resource cleanup including full automation lifecycle across our CSPs via API driven orchestration.
  • Work within an Agile best practices and test-driven development.
  • Ensure processes and KPIs are validated and meets customer SLA expectations.
  • Embrace a culture of creativity, collaboration, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our engineering organization.
  • Technical SME representing AMD as an Automation technical expert.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading technical teams either dotted line or direct reports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build productive cross-team relationships and motivate team members.
  • Experience working with large Data Sets, Big Data, and ETL frameworks.
  • Expertise in running POC development for x86 CPU server with system analysis across at least one OS (Linux/BSD/Windows).
  • Deep knowledge of cloud services and deploying/testing workloads across cloud-based IaaS or PaaS.
  • A skilled communicator with the agility to be flexible in medium, audience, level of detail, and subject matter expert.
  • Significant hands-on expertise in optimizing and running SW workloads and benchmarks tuning for x86 CPU server with Memory configuration and storage systems.
  • Experience in running performance tools like SPEC, TPCC etc. for optimizing running of workloads on various cloud instances and provide actionable outcomes.
  • Experience in creating optimal infrastructure configurations and optimization best practices for various workload types and infrastructure environments.
  • Significant experience in cloud native applications, workload optimization, automation programming models to automate running performance tests.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, interacting with customers, partners and representing AMD technology to the cloud vendors.
  • Ability to develop performance benchmarks in python.
  • Ability to translate highly technical concepts into actionable plans.
  • Ability to drive hands-on proof of concepts to collect data and facts.
  • Exceptional communication skills to address multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multiple locations and time zones.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise in related technical field as well as solid years’ experience in a management capacity.
  • Cloud Certification a plus.
