Design CAD Co-op (Summer + Fall2022 Commitment)

 

About the Department

This Co-op position is for the internal AMD CAD team. The goal of AMD CAD is to implement a software based design flow using best practices and techniques for designing chips with the highest performance, lowest cost, and lowest power. AMD CAD works with various design teams to enable them to put the software to use in constructing next-generation GPUs, CPUs and APUs with industry-standard EDA software tools such as Synopsys Design Compiler, Fusion Compier,  ICC2 and Formality.

 

The Role

Developing and maintaining logical equivalence checks for our world-class hardware synthesis design flow in fast-paced production environment on the very edge of modern technology.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Debug Formal Verification checks for sign-off quality checks
  • Running multiple test designs through the flow on the latest technologies to determine the impact of technology changes on sign off verification.
  • Automating new flow practices and improvements for general use in the design community.

 

What you’ll learn

  • You will get to work with the newest and coolest chip manufacturing technologies, including those not yet in production.
  • Learn about hardware design, flow automation and how to manage data for large Design of Experiments.
  • You will master your UNIX and script debugging skills, while developing flow automation and working with great professionals as a valued member of our team.
  • This team is essential to the success of AMD as a growing company. It is a very exciting environment and you will be working with the very best in our technology. You will be working on some of the most exciting projects the industry has to offer.

 

Requirements

  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong UNIX and scripting programming skills (Perl, Python and/or TcL)
  • Understanding of digital circuits
  • Verilog
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with good interpersonal skills
  • Available for summer + Fall 2022 commitment

 

USEFUL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with EDA software tools like Synopsys Design Compiler, ICC2, Formality and Primetime
  • Familiarity with version control, testing and release
  • Familiarity with VLSI design practices
