As Competitive Operations III, Match Operations Americas your role is to manage show-day match operations and the referee program. The role will build show day operations across the Americas territories in line with Global shows. You will build and manage a best in class referee program that upholds competitive integrity. Additionally, the role will be responsible for managing vendors and referee contractors across all of Americas esports. This role will be an escalation path for show days and requires  in-depth gameplay knowledge of Riot’s esport titles. The role requires critical thinking and clear communication to internal and external stakeholders. 

The Esports team is focused on delivering amazing fan experiences through our global events and regional competitions. Our professional and semi-professional competitive tiers in League of Legends, VALORANT and other Esports involve thousands of players and hundreds of organizations competing every week.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all match operations across the Americas esports
  • Responsible for ensuring all matches are managed with competitive integrity
  • Manage and build a best in class referee program across the Americas territory
  • Create show days procedures for teams and staff in coordination with other internal stakeholders
  • Manage vendors across the Americas territory and referee contractors
  • Collaborate with America's leads on policy updates
  • Escalation path for any math operation matters on show days
  • Work directly with Global on gameplay updates 
  • Enforce match operations rules and policies such as competition rulesets
  • Collaborate with Global and Regional match operation leads

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years managing competitions across esports or a sport league
  • Ability to work show days
  • Currently hold or recently held a high ranking in League of Legends and VALORANT; or able to demonstrate ability to critical think about the impact of bugs/issues within professional play
  • Able to travel and work internationally

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Fluency in additional language(s) beyond English, such as Portuguese or Spanish
  • Strong understanding of League of Legends and VALORANT esports
  • Previously have been a referee in esports or a professional sport league
