Component Quality Analyst, Engineering Operations

THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a talented senior engineer to join the Engineering Operations team that works within the worldwide Core Technology Group (CTG) to deliver high-quality production-ready software, primarily for real-time graphics within games. CTG publicly releases unique GPU and CPU software technologies via AMD’s open-source, developer-focused initiatives. CTG’s software products include the AMD FidelityFX SDK, which includes foundational graphics technology like AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3.

Engineering Operations is responsible for the delivery and quality of CTG’s software, enabling the team’s engineering efforts to run smoothly and produce high-quality software. It does that by providing and supporting the infrastructure and processes that CTG relies on throughout production, all the way through to public open source on GitHub. We are the first line of defense to ensure new SW features are tested and stabilized before moving forward to the next stage of testing phase.


THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have a background and keen interest in modern software development, especially around automated testing and software quality. They will possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large, globally diverse team that works on many different software projects in parallel. They will work methodically, with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills to test CTG products, driving continuous improvements in stability and quality. They will use strong English communication skills to produce documentation to share key knowledge with colleagues. They will be happy working mostly self-directed, managing their day-to-day tasks independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own test benches to maintain, add or remove test machine pools
  • File issue reports on SW defects found in testing
  • Perform experimental and regression testing to investigate the root cause of the defect
  • Expand test automation using Gitlab runners, GitHub Actions, or an equivalent system.
  • Laise with development teams to improve and refine test suites and methodologies

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Production delivery of complex C++ software on Windows using Microsoft toolchains.
  • Comfort with both Windows and Linux for build, deployment, maintenance and automation.
  • Familiarity with C++ software debugging and profiling tools.
  • Use of Python and other scripting languages to automate software testing
  • Experience of building graphics software against the Windows DirectX and Vulkan SDKs is a big plus.
  • An understanding of Windows device driver development

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
