THE ROLE:
The focus of this role is to Architect, build, and execute a scalable data architecture that supports the expanding use of AI/ML technology across our hardware design and verification flows.
THE PERSON:
We are currently seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our expanding team at AMD, Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data architectures that support our AI/ML initiatives, analytics, and product offerings. Your expertise in data modeling, database management, data warehousing, and cloud-based storage solutions will play a key role in optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our data-driven processes, contributing to AMD's continued growth and success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data architectures to support AI/ML initiatives, analytics, and the integration of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and software developers, to ensure seamless data integration and optimal performance.
• Establish best practices for data modeling, database design, and metadata management, ensuring consistency and standardization across all data platforms and projects.
• Design, develop, and optimize data warehousing solutions, utilizing cloud-based and on-premises storage and processing technologies.
• Continuously explore and evaluate state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve AMD's data infrastructure and keep up with the latest advancements in the field of data architecture.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry regulations and standards, implementing robust governance, auditing, and monitoring practices.
• Mentor and guide junior data architects and data engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to support their professional growth.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Strong professional experience in data architecture, with a proven track record of successful projects and system implementations.
• Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, such as ER, dimensional, and NoSQL modeling, as well as database management systems, including SQL, NoSQL, and NewSQL.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL.
• Solid experience with data processing tools and frameworks, such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
• Knowledge of various cloud-based storage solutions and technologies (e.g., AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) preferred.
