THE ROLE: 

AMD is seeking a seasoned and self-motivated Data Engineer to advance the Worldwide Marketing data and analytics modernization initiative by architecting, modeling, and building pipelines to deploy 1st and 3 party datasets into our Cloud warehouse. This individual will work closely with stakeholders across Worldwide Marketing, Business Management, and IT to ensure we are creating and delivering optimal, scalable solutions to our internal customers.  Responsibilities will include overseeing the development of methods, practices, tools and processes to collect, store, access and use data securely, effectively and cost-efficiently. As a key player in the Marketing Intelligence team, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise in building frameworks and pipelines that shape our core analytics products. 

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate is a holistic thinker who can display a startup mentality with strong ownership to solve 0-1 problems with minimal guidance. Should be eager to create solutions, is comfortable managing priorities while multitasking and likes to continuously find ways for your team to improve. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, develop and build the data infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources. 
  • Drive improvements to make our analytics effortless by creating and adjusting core data models and storage structures, all while understanding the needs of our users.  
  • Work with experts in data strategy and data governance to suggest data quality enhancements. 
  • Collaborate with analytics and reporting teams to ensure reporting requirements are met 
  • Document data processes, data lineage, and technical specifications for future reference 
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate deployment and monitoring of data pipelines 

 

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Multi-year, hands-on experience creating automated data pipelines using modern technology stacks for batch ETL, data streaming, or change data capture, and for data processing to load advanced analytics data repositories 
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data integration processes in a large, distributed environment using cloud services e.g., Azure Event Hub, Data Factory, Data Catalog, Databricks, Stream Analytics, Apache Spark 
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools, such as KNIME, Airflow, etc. 
  • Proficiency in object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, etc.  
  • Multi-year experience in API development with good grasp of RESTful APIs and data streaming 
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, HiveQL, PigQL, etc.  
  • Experience of version control tools such as Git and Github.  
  • Working knowledge of web parsing tools such as Scrapy and Selenium  
  • Experience with agile delivery using Jira or Azure DevOps 
  • Functional knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau 
  • Experience using the MS Azure technology stack 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Big Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related technical fields,
