PlayStation isn’t just the Best Place to Play —it’s also the Best Place to Work. We’ve thrilled gamers since 1994, when we launched the original PlayStation. Today, we’re recognized as a global leader in interactive and digital entertainment. The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation.

We are looking for a design intern who understands the fundamentals of making great games! The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail and a flair for the unexpected. We are searching for someone who is interested in pursuing design as a chosen career and who is enthusiastic about learning every aspect of the development process.  The design intern will have the opportunity to be mentored by senior members of the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Be familiar with development environments like Unity or Unreal Engine, capable of working with Maya or other 3D modeling software and have strong game scripting skill or programming experience.
  • Primary responsibility will involve the implementation of game content such as world authoring, combat setups, event triggering and scripted structural elements.
  • Passion and knowledge of the industry is much appreciated.

Internship Qualifications:

  • Six to twelve months related experience and/or training, or students enrolled at a college or university, working towards a Game Design degree.
  • Master's candidates may apply for this internship.
  • We will also consider recent graduates – within 12 months of graduation, when the internship begins
  • Candidates should be energetic, self-motivated, creative, responsible, have a passion for next gen video games, and an understanding of what makes them fun (or not).
  • Basic familiarity with a 3D package such as Maya or 3DSMax is required; experience with Maya is preferred.
  • Must have scripting experience, preferably visual scripting like Kismet, but knowledge of programming or scripting languages is acceptable.
  • Previous experience with level-editing tools, such as Unreal, Unity, or Hammer is a plus.

Internship Details:

  • This is a paid, full-time internship.
  • The student must be available to intern 5 days per week for approximately 40 hours a week.
  • The duration of internship is flexible, but we expect at least an 8-week commitment from our interns.
  • This role is based in Burbank, California or Durham, North Carolina

Simply click the "Apply" button and submit your resume and your reel/portfolio. We look forward to checking them out!
