The Challenge Ahead:
Development Directors for NHL Art are the keeper of the project schedule and help move the development team from one project phase to the next while ensuring collaboration and communication both on your team and with other partner teams within NHL and the studio. Reporting to our Lead Art Development Director, you will partner with producers to ensure that they are managing the project on time, to quality, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Lead and evolve a team; identify resourcing needs, provide challenges and developmental opportunities to ensure that all employees reach their potential through mentoring and career development.
- Develop working relationships with immediate team and those outside of the immediate team that influence the completion of the project.
- Provide line management to employees across departments within a single project team.
- Communicate with the project teams and coordinate requirements with external partners.
- Participate in the hiring process to ensure candidates meet project requirements.
Project management:
- Establish an overall project schedule based on the individual task estimates for production.
- Determine the resources and skills necessary to meet the task requirements.
- Establish and manage the project budget, determine task dependencies, and assign tasks to team resources.
Execution:
- Assign task goals from defined project goals; achieve project deliverables through managing a team at a project-level.
- Track and manage scope in alignment with capacity, identifying and mitigating risks for assigned scope as needed.
- Partner with producers to manage and balance scope, ensuring timeline and quality targets are met.
Qualifications:
- 5 years project management or team leadership experience.
- Experience in different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile
- Knowledge of Shotgrid or JIRA/JAAS is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills: ability to challenge and influence a variety of stakeholders while maintaining strong emotional intelligence.
- The ability to foster and support an inclusive and diverse team culture.
- Effective communication skills with the proven ability to influence outcomes across all levels of organization.
- Excellent change management skills, i.e., comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, yet able to set priorities and execute commitments.
- Experience working with expansive teams, promoting collaboration, mediation, and conflict resolution.
