The Role:

Are you excited about leading a brand transformation for a high-profile technology company? If so, this role is for you. AMD is in the early stages of a business transformation from a primarily PC and graphics company to the leader in high performance and adaptive computing. People don’t separate our company from our brand; they are the same in their mind. So, as we evolve our company, we need to evolve our brand. In mid-2022, we launched a new brand platform “together we advance_” to help enable this objective and the AMD brand is now valued at close to $7B. The brand strategy director is responsible for managing, growing, and measuring AMD’s corporate brand. This role supports the entirety of AMD’s $20B+ business globally working across the company  to elevate and drive growth for the AMD brand, including driving to completion the Xilinx brand transition, building brand marketing campaigns, managing world-wide brand guidelines, defining brand architecture, and maintaining strict governance to drive better awareness, preference, and consistency. This role involves working closely with the creative, segment marketing, regional marketing, business unit product marketing teams, and agencies of record to ensure everything ladders up to the overarching brand platform; drives consistency in terms of creative quality, creative templates and tonality, visual ID, as well as creates processes to drive efficient workflows and communications across workstreams and content creation across the company.

 

The Person:

The person must possess wide-ranging skills including strategic, creative, and analytic with strong leadership, communication, and collaboration. To enable the strategic transformation, it is critical to enroll the organization, creating an employee base of more than 20,000 true believers by integrating the brand in recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing employee communications, He/she must have the confidence to educate and influence the company’s leadership. Additionally, this individual must effectively partner with creative and media agency partners as well as work closely with some of our most important customers and partners. Internally, this person must be able to lead and manage the brand across the various global and regional marketing teams.

 

Being flexible, adaptable, nimble, and responsive to quick-changing and urgent business needs to support strategic brand and branding initiatives across AMD, and promoting AMD corporate brand tracking, analysis, and report out are critical to success.

  • Work effectively cross-functionally to build brand strength and advocacy, internally and externally.
  • Natural collaborator. Works seamlessly across global marketing, sales, BU’s, HR, CR, regions, etc.
  • Confidence to present to senior management.
  • Effective at meeting deadlines, adjusting priorities, and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to “do more with less “to drive efficient awareness of the “new” AMD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Position the company as the leader in high performance and adaptive computing.
  • Drive and support the vision, evolution and management of AMD’s brand strategy and architecture, including supporting the entire portfolio of products across AMD and AEAI as well as AMD and AMD XILINX corporate brands.
  • Continue to help develop and shape a corporate narrative that provides a framework for how AMDs vision, mission, and strategy connects to the brand platform and how it is communicated to our employees and ecosystem partners.
  • Ensure work being developed across the globe is guided by a consistent strategy, campaign idea, messaging, and visual identity system. Across all touchpoints internally and externally.
  • Lead development of the annual external brand plan, focused on telling the AMD story. Responsible for brand campaign development and execution: overseeing end-to-end creative development from brief through post-production, coordinating with media, PR, digital, segment marketing teams across AMD. Key deliverables include identifying partner/case studies and leading the development and activation of those case studies; establishing an always on content strategy, editorial calendar, and content distribution plan for the brand; crafting a strategy and plan to actively manage and refresh content on our owned assets (i.e., AMD.com, AMD and XILINX social sites).
  • Create processes to facilitate sharing of campaigns, results, learnings, and best practices.
  • Lead the implementation of product logo transition (increasing the prominence of the AMD brand) across all AMD and AEAI products.
  • Oversee the retirement of the Xilinx brand and transition products to AMD, including cross- functional coordination to identify and manage key milestones that lead to the eventual phase out of the AMD XILINX corporate brand.
  • Take the lead in the continuous evolution/development, rollout, and management of brand guidelines and brand architecture (including Xilinx), tonality, and the visual identity.
  • Lead day-to-day support for brand measurement: corporate brand tracking, analysis, and report out, and primary research to deliver actionable insights.

 Preferred Experience:

  • Progressive experience in marketing, focused on brand management.
  • Global experience, ideally, within a big, B2B technology company.
  • Deep understanding of and experience with semiconductor industry and specifically with an adaptive computing and/or data center focused brand.
  • Hands-on experience with planning and implementing a successful global brand strategy.
  • Understands all aspects of the marketing mix including expertise in digital marketing and social media.
  • Experience working with internal and external creative agencies.

 Academic Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or related field. MBA a plus.
