Director Business Operations, Embedded Business Unit

 

The Role:

This newly created leadership position is responsible for the business operations of the Embedded Business Unit. EBU is a high growth global organization that drives AMD’s processor business in embedded applications including Networking, Storage and Automotive.  This individual will serve as a focal point for communication and interaction within the Business Unit and as a trusted advisor to the CVP/General Manager and his staff. Additionally, this individual will ensure the organization’s needs are being met as they relate to other operations functions (revenue forecasting global supply chain management, etc.) She/he will be the management intermediary between the EBU and other AMD operations and finance functions.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Daily BU Operations

  • Drive governance model (weekly staff and operational meetings); maintain a calendar of events (internal, customer); prepare presentations for key internal executive, customer, and public meetings and events
  • Effectively work with each function across the BU staff for overall strategic planning, program planning and management to support strategic goals
  • Coordinate and manage key segment and corporate deliverables on behalf of the Embedded business unit
  • Develop effective partnerships and work collaboratively with business partners (HR, Finance, Sales, etc.)
  • In partnership, develop and manage internal and external communications on behalf of the BU
  • Conduct all business analysis needed to support the organization (expense forecast analysis, budget reviews, organizational structure, etc.)
  • Manage the standard use of tools and templates to facilitate project planning and governance across the organization
  • Review and monitor the key performance indicators across the organization
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations on strategic issues, as appropriate
  • Work closely with financial control, human resources, and other key support areas to maximize efficiency
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the various functional teams to improve and automate all existing processes

Revenue Forecasting

  • Manage BU business operations team
  • Responsible for the overall revenue forecasting process for the organization
  • Manage/drive the annual/quarterly revenue cycle within the organization
  • Target & Timeline definition & communication
  • Challenging teams’ revenue rollups/variances within established targets
  • Balancing revenue targets and variances across programs and teams
  • Ensuring consistency with how the results are communicated to management
  • Report to Management revenue forecast analysis
  • Provide and execute action plans to resolve top level variances

Supply Chain Oversight

  • Responsible for understanding and communicating supply side impacts to revenue and pricing across multiple concurrently active supply chains
  • Partner with global operations to ensure transparency in BU’s view of product production cycle and yield and any variances
  • Communicate overall supply chain impacts to BU leadership

  • Demonstrated technical team/project and program management leadership success
  • Proactive and execution focused
  • Skilled in developing and sustaining positive interpersonal relationships
  • A track record of creativity and innovation in solutions
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Action and results-orientation with the ability to make decisions quickly
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and/or analytical experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, revenue and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills.

 

EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering.  MBA preferred.
