Director Customer and Partner Engineering
THE ROLE:
The Datacenter GPU and Accelerated Computing, Partner / Customer Engineering team is seeking a Director of Engineering. In this customer-focused role, you will be working with the world’s leading GPUs being designed into Exascale class supercomputers. You will lead an organization consisting of multiple departments that are responsible for Partner (OEM/ODM) and End Customer success. You will be leading the Partner Engineering team that supports key OEM / ODM partners, internal development teams, and other stakeholders to bring a portfolio of next-generation server platforms to market using AMD’s Instinct™ Accelerators. You will also lead the Customer engineering team supports the world’s largest consumers of GPU to solve some of the world hardest AI and HPC problems. The role provides a unique opportunity to learn and define leading edge GPU technologies and solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the team responsible for the OEM/ODM Partners in North America to enable deployment of AMD Instinct™ Accelerators in Partner systems.
- The team is responsible for supporting partners in the bring-up and qualification of AMD Instinct™ GPUs in their system, guide partners on use of AMD tools, qualification methods, and analysis of test results.
- Manage the team responsible for the key customers success in the deployment and use of AMD Instinct™ Accelerators.

- The debug of Partner / Customer issues (SW, HW, firmware, driver), working with a cross-functional team and driving the root cause investigation.
- Understand Partner and Customer requirements and schedule, identify gaps in AMD offering and work with other stakeholders to close them.
- Provide recommendation to improve internal processes and tools to enhance partner and customer experience with our SW and HW.
KEY EXPERIENCE:
- Management Experience in Data Center Application Engineering, FAE or Customer Engineering.
- Management Experience leading an organization of multiple departments with similar but unique missions, handling budgets, resource planning, direction, and manager management.
- Strong knowledge in PC/server architecture and interfaces, experience with system level debug and issue resolution.
- Strong System Level debugging skills with hands-on experiences in performing HW debug, SI analysis, and performance optimizations on various system architectures.
- Understanding and experience working with Enterprise Class servers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate technical results clearly and accurately to VP and above stakeholders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of industry experience (ideally with Server and/or Semiconductor vendors)
- Familiarity with various deployment models including cloud, virtualization, and containers.
- Automation, orchestration, delivery via Kubernetes, Docker, or Mesos.
- Experience or knowledge of server firmware/BIOS settings, boot process, server monitoring and management SW.
- Experience with GPU systems and software) OpenCL, CUDA, or ROCm) is a plus.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- MBA, MS, or PhD a plus.
