The Role:

Delivering high quality products is paramount to AMD’s continuing success and future growth. 

This is a cross-functional and cross-discipline role to drive AMDs initiative to ensure no failure goes undetected during a part's lifetime for highly reliable server operation.   

 

The Person

  • Experience in leading multi-site global teams direct and virtual, cross-discipline on complex projects that span multiple products.  
  • Experience in customer engagements and driving and learning from their experiences on the field is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of the design, validation, debug and manufacturing processes. 
  • Eager to engage in deep technical discussions
  • Proven track record of on time, at quality delivery. 
  • Strong people skills. Able to manage contentious discussions.  
  • Desire to drive process and program improvements.
  • Ability to jump in to solve complex technical problems when needed.
  • Work hard and enjoy job at same time.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Lead cross functional team to address identified quality gaps on server.  

 

Institutionalize lessons learned into processes, in the appropriate team.

  • Make sure lessons learned on previous programs and carried forward and institutionalized for next programs.
  • Enable better testing recipes to support debug team and customer requirements.

 

Develop strategic plans with technical leads for achieving no undetected failures in a part's lifetime.

  • This includes but not limited to DPPM projections, SDD coverage, architectural improvements, volume validation, and more.
  • Evaluate and Improve test coverage to detect issues in validation and customer environments.
  • Create content if needed.
  • Continue looking forward and driving new strategies for quality improvements with cross functional partners.

 

Drive Debug of complex issues and feedback into debug solutions for internal AMD debug and in-field debug

  • Drive debug of complex issues and continuously evaluate field data with partners and customers.  
  • Drive debug tools improvements for internal and external debug experience.

 

Manage a cross functional team.

  • Directly manage small team. 
  • Indirectly manage larger team across all disciplines and support their requirements.
  • This will include but not limited to meeting regularly with these teams, remind about their action items, but also discuss filling gaps in processes and resources.
  • Improve communication and partnership between teams. Improve communication of status that is rolled up for executives.
  • Play an active role as Director in the organization.
  • This includes performance management, supporting annual budgeting/tracking, etc.
  • This may include taking on additional responsibilities, both short term project (example would be comp analysis) or may include other functions beyond the immediate responsibilities (such as other post silicon support).
  • Partner with data center compute to (1) help where needed (2) institute similar processes as server.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in most aspects of semiconductor lifecycle: Design, validation, and Manufacturing process. Preferred experience with understanding of Server Architecture, post-silicon validation and in field testing methods and content for continuous quality improvement.
  • Leadership experience such as
    • Demonstration of setting a strategy and institutionalizing lessons learnt into processes at the right level in the product lifecycle.
    • driving delivery across generations to end solution.
    • Manage a cross functional team directly and indirectly.
    • Customer interactions
  • Experienced in driving validation and leading customer debug issues across multiple organizations.
  • Experienced in understanding of debug tools for server post-si validation and customer sites.
  • Able to deep dive and debug when needed.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Masters in Computer Engineering, preferred
