THE ROLE:

 

The Director, Global Events role defines and drives a complete plan for how the AMD brand comes to life through global event experiences. The role includes working with leadership to define a compelling vision for AMD’s events portfolio; collaborating with business groups to bring our narrative to life in global proprietary and 3rd party industry events; and leading a team to execute flawless in-person, hybrid and virtual experiences.

 

This role requires strong collaboration, cross-functional partnerships, and executive presence. You will work alongside executive leadership to provide flawless event planning and execution and be a part of a dynamic, supportive, smart, dedicated, and fun team in a very fast-paced environment.

The most outstanding candidate is high-performing, strategic and influential events professional.

 

This person has demonstrated experience in defining a strategic events vision to support a large and growing company, a proven track record of executing complex product launches and tradeshows and motivating a team to execute flawlessly to create impactful experiences in support of our brand.

 

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • High tech event management experience leading proprietary internal, external, 3rd party industry and executive events.
  • Proven track record for setting an event marketing strategy that achieves goals and objectives of the organization and stakeholders.
  • Successful experience influencing and building consensus with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Strong team leadership, team alignment and motivation skills
  • End-to-end ownership and accountability for complex project management programs.
  • Expert knowledge of event and marketing tactics (online, in-person and hybrid) with an understanding of best practices and emerging practices.
  • Understanding of current and emerging event marketing processes and tools including Cvent, Workfront and Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) and others.
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively while managing multiple competing operational priorities.
  • Experience leading through ambiguity, working through complex issues, and showing agility and flexibility.
  • Experience leading a high-performance team and a wide variety of external vendors.
  • Familiarity with product demos and technology.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to present and effectively interact with all levels including executive leadership.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and deliver a long-term vision for AMD Global Events that drives flawless in-person, hybrid, and virtual experiences in support of our brand.
  • Collaborate across AMD lines of business, corporate functions, and regional marketing teams to define, design, and deliver event experiences that are measurable, meaningful, and meet desired objectives.
  • Partner with Brand, Creative Studio, PR, and Comms teams to ideate and innovate the way AMD executes events---challenge existing thinking and push creative boundaries.
  • Oversee events team operations, including budget management, organizational efficiencies, technology innovation, measurement and reporting, tools, and training.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance and travel on budgets, contracts, and supplier relations.
  • Lead with inspiration and vision to champion the event team, and support continued learning, development, and growth.
  • Explore and nurture contacts and relationships across the industry including thought leaders, partners, suppliers, and peers to raise AMD’s leadership position in the industry. 
  • Ability to proactively plan and work effectively under deadlines while leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Dedication to analytics and using measurement to continuously improve future events.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business, technology, marketing, or equivalent experience desired

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly experienced in managing a variety of high-profile events which includes, but not limited to, conferences, tradeshows, product launches, sales kick-off’s, incentives, hospitality, executive meetings, and trainings.
  • Experience in an S&P 500 company.
  • Experience managing a large team.

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
