Reporting to the Director, Systems Engineering - Embedded Centre of Excellence : this position focuses on the strategic application of AMD’s world class CPU, GPU, AI, and Programmable Logic technology in the automotive market, specifically in the areas of Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS)/ Automated Driving, Infotainment, and Driver Information. The role includes working closely with automotive marketing, and peer group personnel to identify and develop compelling value propositions for our customers that support continued long-term growth of the AMD automotive business. 

 

THE PERSON: 

AMD is looking for a highly talented engineer that is passionate about embedded systems and who has proven experience with embedded software development, a knowledge of machine learning and who has a desire to build autonomous systems. This is a very unique opportunity to join a team of highly talented engineers focused on developing software and building Proof of Concepts to showcase what is possible on AMD - utilizing x86, ARM, AI, GPU and FPGA compute.

 

The ideal candidate should have great communication and interpersonal skills, be passionate about embedded systems and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues from concept to reality. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Define, Develop and deploy automotive focused system simulation solutions.
  • Responsibilities include development of targeted solutions, creating/maintaining vehicle-based demonstration platforms and engagement with key AMD automotive ecosystem partners.
  • Define, Develop and deploy software development paradigm for automotive focused systems.
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with strategic internal/external partners applicable to the automotive segment with the objective of guiding partner activity and priorities based solution based view of Automotive.
  • Define and develop (leveraging partners and internal resources) targeted reference solutions (IP, Software, Reference Designs, Targeted Development Platforms, Vehicle-based Testbeds) aligned with relevant market/customer challenges, that enhance the overall value proposition of AMD products and increase product penetration over ASSP, DSP, and SOC alternatives.
  • Work with AMD product planning team to develop, communicate, and justify automotive requirements relevant to future products.
  • Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies 
  • Develop technical relationships with peers and partners 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred 
  • Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail 
  • Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs 
  • Experience with Linux and/or Android and an Automotive RTOS (e.g. QNX and Greenhills) and automotive hypervisors
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers
  • Experience with automotive ECU architecture and/or development  - including an understanding of the transition to Software Defined Vehicles
  • Knowledge of automotive interfaces; CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, SerDes, MIPI, etc
  • Expertise in Software Development and Automotive Operating Systems - Blackberry, GreenHills, WR, Sysgo, etc 
  • Experience in writing/testing Automotive Embedded Software code
  • Proven Experience in Community Groups/Projects: SOAFEE, AUTOWARE, COVESA, ECLIPSE SDV
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
