The Challenge Ahead

We are DICE, the award-winning studio with locations in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise.

We are now part of a set of global studios building a connected Battlefield universe, developing Battlefield's one-of-a-kind multiplayer suite. Our people are the backbone and driving force to our creative products, and are always looking for diverse game creators to join us in Stockholm, Gothenburg, or working remotely, to help us build the best Battlefield experiences and make our studio the best in the industry.

An Environment Art intern will learn how to create authentic and realistic worlds by working with the environment and lighting team and gain valuable industry experience. You are enthusiastic about collaborating with and assisting other artists in the creation, population, and optimization of game assets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • You will work through the DICE Env-art onboarding program, taking you through the fundamentals of working with content creation for Battlefield.
  • You will learn and become fluent in our workflows, tools and the general pipeline with the help of your assigned mentor.
  • You will work on different tasks, ranging from building props, architecture, level set dressing, terrain building and much more.
  • You will, in a safe and controlled environment, learn step by step how to plan, estimate and implement your work.
  • You should independently seek out information, guidance and feedback from your team members to learn during your internship. You’re expected to take ownership and be an active part in shaping your internship.
  • You will participate and engage in the day 2 day communication with your team members and lead, whether in stand-ups, playtesting or general art review meetings.
  • You will demonstrate teamwork by collaborating with our accomplished dev team and artists.

 

Qualifications:

  • You must be currently enrolled at university or education provider with a planned internship period planned into the education plan, for example, LiA.
  • Eligible to work in Stockholm,Sweden, without the need for visa/relocation support
  • Available from January 2025

 

Desired Skills:

  • A good foundation in 3D Art and comfortability with industry-standard software packages such as Maya, ZBrush and the Substance suite
  • A good understanding of, and ability to interpret how environments and objects function in real life.
  • A sense of realism and believability in both motion and construction.
  • An understanding of crafting with efficiency and the importance of being mindful of performance constraints, both with regards to in-game performance and workflows.
  • An analytical and critical mindset
  • Tried and tested collaboration and communication skills. For instance, actively seeking out and acting on feedback on your work.
