CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an Expert Systems Designer to support The Molasses Flood development studio in their own ambitious project set within the world of The Witcher.
In this role you will design and implement various gameplay systems for the multiplayer Witcher game - project Sirius! Possible areas of focus range from foundational game systems, player progression, high-level balancing and meta. Our ideal candidate has experience designing foundational game systems, knows how to communicate these designs clearly across disciplines, and is a self driven problem solver. Most importantly, you care deeply for the player, understand what motivates and inspires them, and know how to build systems that fulfill those needs.
This is a full time position reporting to the Design Director.
Responsibilities
- Propose innovative and fun gameplay systems that follow the game direction and vision; clearly pitch these ideas to the team and leadership.
- Communicate and collaborate across departments as it pertains to systems: work closely with engineers, artists, sound designers, and production in managing the prioritization, implementation, and scope of the game’s systems.
- Design, prototype, script, iterate on, and polish game systems and features.
- Work closely with our gameplay programmers on system prototyping and implementation, and ensure that the gameplay functionality, systems, and overall gameplay experience are carried through to completion at the highest possible quality.
- Continuously evaluate the state of the game through playtesting and feedback to expand and balance systems and ensure quality future playtests.
- Research best practices, new tech and industry trends to ensure our project is best in class.
- Maintain clean and concise documentation.
- Mentor more junior Designers, sharing knowledge, and setting the bar for meeting project standards.
- Minimum of 7 years as a Designer in the game industry, with at least 3 years focused on Systems Design.
- Experience working on a multiplayer title.
- Design experience with systems heavy action games.
- Proven success in creating compelling and innovative gameplay mechanics.
- Understanding programming/scripting in game design and experience with game editors and game design tools.
- Extensive knowledge of current game titles, as well as movies and other visual arts, to use as reference for crafting and communicating original ideas.
- Unreal and Blueprint familiarity.
- The ability to communicate fluently with engineering, art, narrative and production.
- Curiosity, kindness, and a positive and professional can-do attitude.

Ability to read and understand C++ or C#.
