THE ROLE:

As the External Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a critical and highly visible role within AMD’s Corporate Accounting organization, specifically within the External Financial Reporting team. This team is integral to our success, managing all external financial reporting activities, including the preparation and filing of Form 10-Qs, Form 10-Ks, and reviewing Proxy Statements. This role provides you with a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, offering exposure to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that AMD's financial reports are accurate, timely, and in full compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of External Financial Reporting, this position offers an excellent platform for your professional growth and learning.

 

THE PERSON:

You are an ideal candidate if you are a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong background in external auditing from a large public accounting firm, complemented by industry experience. You are a natural communicator, capable of simplifying complex financial data for various stakeholders, and you excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, you bring a proactive approach to problem-solving, a knack for project management, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in reporting processes. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of AMD’s external financial reports.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and review financial footnotes and analysis for AMD’s Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other public filings.
  • Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial presentations and statutory filings.
  • Manage the preparation and review of the statement of cash flows and the statement of stockholders’ equity.
  • Conduct forecasts and actual analysis related to share count and stock-based compensation.
  • Analyze and assess the impact of new accounting standards and SEC regulations on AMD’s external financial reporting.
  • Assist with or review the XBRL tagging and reporting process.
  • Collaborate with Technical Accounting, Business Unit Finance, Corporate Financial Planning, Human Resources, Investor Relations, and Legal teams in the preparation of external filings.
  • Review quarterly earnings press release tables and supplementary slides for compliance.
  • Support various financial month-end close activities.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and interact with the Company’s internal and external auditors.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in external auditing or financial reporting, preferably from a Big 4 or national public accounting firm.
  • Strong expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Workiva reporting software and XBRL is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other financial reporting systems is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting is highly desired.
  • CPA/CA certification or equivalent is required.
