THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for an engineering leader passionate about driving the best Power Performance Area (PPA) of AMD’s AI Accelerators for client, server, and adaptable silicon devices. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in driving physical design optimization to deliver industry leading performance/area and performance/power. In this role the candidate will work with Architecture team, design team and drive the hardware implementation of AI accelerators and silicon devices. The candidate will be the primary point of contact for all SOC teams using AI accelerator IPs designed by AI Silicon group.

You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the latest and rapidly evolving hardware technologies for AI.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in physical design optimization for AI processors (CPU, GPU,AI accelerators) and must possess leadership skills to influence and drive SOC teams. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Technical Physical Design lead on AMD’s AI silicon team, focused on driving the best Power, Performance, Area for AI accelerators.
2. Explore and drive different initiatives to achieve best possible PPA such as custom data-path, custom memory/cells, pre-routes, hand generated netlist.
3. Point of contact for all AMD’s SOC teams, providing them the reference implementation flow and ensuring their success.
4. Develop technical relationship with broader AMD Design community and peers.
5. Stay informed of latest trends and innovations in AI HW architecture and implementation.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

1. Strong background in physical design with exposure to circuit and logic design.
2. Proven track record of delivering AI accelerator silicon devices in process technologies 7nm and below.
3. Expert user of P&R, Timing and Physical verification tools from top EDA vendors.
4. Proven expertise in developing physical implementation flow combining auto P&R and custom flow.
5. Ability to co-optimize and make appropriate tradeoff across architecture, front-end design, and back-end design.
6. Experience in leading a small team of high performing individuals.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
