The Role:
We are looking for our next team member to support strategic cloud end-customers in the San Francisco Bay area. In this commissioned technical sales role, you will help grow demand for AMD-based Infrastructure/Platform as a Service (IaaS/PaaS) solutions from our largest public cloud service providers by engaging with key end-customer engineering and leadership contacts to demonstrate AMD-based products addressing their most critical business challenges. Working in partnership with Account Executive(s), the FAE is responsible for technical engagements with their named customer(s) for CSP IaaS/PaaS products. You will occasionally provide training to teammates and assist them with their unique challenges that intersect your subject matter expertise. Success in this role is measured by AMD share of the customers’ IaaS/PaaS spend. Achieving success requires knowledge of common cloud and datacenter workloads, CSP IaaS/PaaS product offerings, performance profiling and monitoring utilities, technical understanding of x86 processor/SOC architecture, and the Linux operating system, coupled with responsiveness, integrity, self-motivation, organization, and excellent verbal and written communications.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with a balance of cloud architecture, processor architecture, and application software expertise

Outstanding organizational and time management skills, handling multiple sometimes conflicting priorities
Ability to cultivate strong internal (sales, marketing, engineering) and external (customer) relationships
Willing to travel up to 25%
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance and assistance to Account Executives in defining and executing account strategy
Discover critical customer business challenges addressable with AMD-based CSP IaaS/PaaS products
Provide hands-on, expert-level technical guidance to performance engineers and application developers in software / deployment optimization
Partner with other AMD subject matter authorities to tackle specific customer challenges
Architect, install, and test solutions in-house, as needed, to ensure successful evaluations and deployments
Lead technical sessions and seminars on topics, technologies, and products relevant for your customer
Gather a solid understanding of the competitive landscape and clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition associated with AMD
Provide voice of the customer feedback to AMD marketing and engineering teams, Global CSP account teams
Preferred Experience:
Success in a customer-facing technical role working with IaaS/PaaS products such as AWS EC2, ECS, EKS, Azure VMs, ACS, AKS, Google Cloud Compute Engine, GCE, GKE, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Workload and application deployment or development of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB), web caching/serving (NGINX, Apache Web Server), AI/ML inference, containerized workload deployments (Kubernetes, Docker), networking, software-defined storage, and data analytics (Apache Spark, MapReduce)
Server software ecosystem: Linux, Java, and profiling and performance optimization tools such as Linux Perf, strace, and Intel vTune
Setup and configuration of both physical server systems and cloud infrastructure including operating system software and networking and storage infrastructure
Academic Credentials and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred), or sufficient equivalent technical experience
AWS Cloud Practitioner (or Azure or GCP equivalent) a plus
AWS Solutions Architect Associate (or Azure or GCP equivalent) a plus
Location:
This is primarily a work from home position, within one hour drive of San Francisco or San Jose preferred
Within one hour drive of a commercial airport (travel may exceed 25%)
This position is not eligible for relocation expenses or immigration sponsorship
