Firmware Development Lead

THE ROLE:

AMD's Server Platform Solutions Engineering team is currently looking for leaders who are passionate about the power of server technology and would like to be part of our inspired journey to greatly impact the world through innovation in server solutions. Our team is dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge technologies, such as our advanced chiplet design, the latest silicon process technologies, and our streamlined IO architecture, to build the groundbreaking products that meet tomorrow’s challenges in today’s data driven world.

THE PERSON:

We are looking for an inspired technical lead to fulfill the role in this journey of shaping AMD’s firmware development strategy.  This role involves leveraging your firmware development expertise while working with any number of collaborators - developers, IP designers, customers, and quality assurance teams – to solve difficult problems and provide the right firmware solutions at the right time.  The ideal candidate will be a versatile collaborator,  leading any number of focused efforts from working with a team of engineers to debug an issue, to a planner, working with teams on priority calls, to an internal or external customer advocate, ensuring the proper solutions land in firmware releases.  If you have a background in firmware development and you enjoy playing a leadership role in finding solutions to unique problems with others as much as you love coding, this role is for you.

This role entails requires technical proficiency in firmware , horizontal leadership competencies, communication skills, and comfort in a highly visible role.  You recognize the power of firmware – a space where the impossible, without a HW change, becomes possible - saving the product, the program schedule, or just simply, cost.  As a visible, “go to,” this makes your ability to clearly communicate plans to executives as well as the teams you are coordinating, a must. This highly rewarding role is a great stepping-stone for those with technical acuity, sound judgment, unwavering resolve, and desire to expand in scope to fill a broader leadership role in their career trajectory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong firmware or BIOS development experience
• Demonstrated history of problem solving
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, mentoring and possible debug oversight
• Experience in the semi-conductor industry, preferred x86 or ARM microprocessor
• Ability to thrive with agility, responding to changing technical conditions
• Knowledge of Solid debug methodologies
• Comfort with horizontal management
• Ability to present and communicate effectively to both executives and engineers

BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
