Firmware Engineering Lead

 

The Person:

The Role:

 

The ICT-Architecture IO team is looking for a passionate and experienced memory subsystem firmware engineering lead for pre-silicon and production firmware development of high-speed LPDDRx, DDRx and inter-chip IO IPs through the utilization of advanced hybrid verification environments.  Be a part of the definition, design, and development phase of industry-leading Memory Controllers, Memory PHYs and interface IP, as well as the overall memory subsystem.  This opportunity includes ownership of the memory subsystem firmware and leading a team of firmware engineers.  It requires close coordination and alignment with the verification of the memory subsystem, as well as cross organization alignment, and ownership of the memory subsystem firmware across multiple product lines as well as ownership of the firmware pre-silicon through post silicon, from bring up to production level firmware.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Architecture, Micro-architecture, development, and integration of memory subsystem firmware
  • Feature set tracking, cross organizational feature set enablement coordination, and planning from pre-silicon to bring up through production level firmware development.
  • Previous proven leadership track record in the field of firmware development.
  • Proactive leadership approach and strong communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of C, C++, and any scripting language
  • Ability to adapt learn new toolsets and framework.
  • Pre-silicon and post-silicon experience developing and debugging firmware, both on simulation/emulation/FPGA platforms and real hardware.
  • Experience with DDR/JEDEC standard IP, DDR PHY, and Memory Controller firmware development.
  • Strong understanding of computer organization/architecture.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Strong understanding of memory controllers, PHYs, and dram protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of git and perforce.
  • Applied knowledge of JEDEC standards in relationship to firmware development and debug.
  • Laboratory experience, including the use of equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. to debug and triage firmware and lab bring up issues.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCED DESIRED:

  • Knowledge of SystemC, UVM and Python.
  • VCS simulation and debug experience.
  • Strong understanding of synchronization techniques (handshakes, message passing).
  • Knowledge of hardware level clocking and synchronization.
  • Zebu Emulation debug experience.
  • SoC IP knowledge and architectural understanding of the purpose of each IP.
  • Experience with low level, physical phenomena-oriented logic design (dealing with IO, clocking, voltage control, etc.). 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and relevant experience, or
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with relevant experience.
