Reporting to the Design Director, the Game Designer will maintain and balance the core and meta-game while creating and implementing live service ideas and features to entertain our players.


Your Responsibilities
  • Design and own game systems of varying scale and scope, mechanics, and content from concept through implementation to completion.
  • Craft a vision for how players will engage with the system throughout the lifecycle of the product
  • Determine player experience goals for designs, and tune features to meet those goals.
  • Improve designs based on input from the team, user research, playtesting, and live game metrics
  • Be an active member of the development team using inclusive collaborative frameworks, ensuring everyone has a voice
  • Be resourceful and solve problems using the tools and time/scope available to create unique and fun experiences for players.
  • Collaborate with all team disciplines, including artists, testers, economy, engineers, and producers to get support from the team and guide a project from initial design to final production.
  • Become an expert on the game and our community, drawing from our large, varied player base and our past games to make and defend intelligent design choices going forward.
Your Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of game design experience on a video game development team and at least 1 shipped game as a Systems Designer.
  • Excellent creative, analytical, and organization skills with an ability to write detailed design documentation.
  • Experience working on designs from initial creation through to implementation.
  • Progressive thinking while remaining energetic and motivated to overcome challenges with practical solutions.
  • Ability to champion a design and get the team excited to work on it.
  • Experience prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Effective at working both autonomously and in groups of different profiles.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for gaming: playing, deconstructing, and creating.
  • Bonus: Experience with sports games as a designer or a passionate player
  • Bonus if you have live service experience

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.


• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $89,300 - $123,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
