Description

Position at Creative Assembly

This is an excellent and unique opportunity for a motivated and passionate writer to help design and create written narrative content for the Total War franchise.

Please note that a motivation letter is required for this position and applications without such will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

As a Writer on the team, you will work with other writers and designers to envision and then create compelling and immersive historical content, writing immersive and accurate descriptions for historical/fantastical events and infrastructure to help create a believable, authentic game world.

You will also collaborate with designers, audio, cinematics and brand teams to create character narratives and dynamic dialogue for all areas of the game, including in-game movies and promotional trailers. As well as work closely with all other involved teams to plan and prepare in-game texts for localisation into multiple languages.

Additionally, you will not be restricted to writing only but you will take part actively in the game design process itself.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write both prose and dialogue to a high standard
  • Ability to work independently on long tasks
  • Ability to research topics and distil/summarise information
  • Demonstrable and strong self-editing skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a number of disciplines in a diverse working environment
  • An interest in history, particularly military history is essential
  • Passion and interest in games and game design
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Desirable
  • Experience in game design – professional or non-professional
  • General knowledge of game development is a plus
  • An interest in the Warhammer world is an advantage
  • Writing and/or narrative design experience is an advantage
  • A passion for books, films, TV, and theatre
