THE ROLE:
The Firmware Security Engineering group is responsible for developing Platform Security and Content Protection features across the software stack including device drivers, firmware, and application-level interfaces. Within the larger Security group, the Platform Security Team is responsible for the Firmware Security Stack that runs on the entire range of AMD Graphics Processing Units and Central Processing Units which include Cloud/Consumer Gaming, Workstation, Data Center, Server and AI, enabling our customers to build solutions and driving the next wave of innovation in Exascale computing.
Our team is seeking a technical leader interested in a chance to define, implement, and guide implementation of Trusted Execution Environment. You will be expected to take on a lead role, working with diverse teams across AMD to meet security requirements for our state-of-the-art Confidential Computing. THE PERSON:
As a member of the Platform Security Team, you will participate in all aspects of development life cycle, engaging on parallel assignments spanning Firmware stack, developing embedded firmware and device drivers, working closely with a wide range of Hardware, Software and Validation teams.
You will be responsible for developing security centric features on various Data Center SOCs by demonstrating low level Hardware and Software debug tools and evolving those towards production quality. There will be opportunities to become a specialist in ARM / RISC-V Firmware Development, Bootloader development, RTOS, Cryptography, CPU to GPU communication, CPU Virtualization (Secure Encrypted Virtualization solutions), as well as Pre-Silicon development environments such as Simulators, FPGAs and Emulation Platforms.
In addition to Firmware development, there are several QA initiatives in flight within the team which you will be exposed to, such as CI/CD and Google Test for Firmware Unit test development. Experience in these areas will be considered an asset for the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, design, develop and implement architecture solutions meeting security requirements and standards
- Apply innovative security primitives to improve next generation secure platforms
- Design and Implement Embedded SOC Firmware + Platform BIOS Firmware
- Collaborate across the company for designing Confidential Computing within AMD products, working with hardware, software, and product teams
- Develop new software features and improvements within pre-silicon environments
- Actively participate in design reviews and architectural discussions
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Low-Level Development: Extensive experience in low-level development using C/C++ and Python, including ARM/RISC-V assembly proficiency and strong debugging skills
- Embedded Firmware Development: Proven expertise in embedded firmware development for ARM or x86 microprocessors, including pre-silicon validation on FPGAs or simulation environments and ASIC bring-up knowledge
- Security: Deep understanding of Trusted Computing attestation methods, isolation techniques, and various communication protocols (PCIe, CXL, I2C) within Trusted Execution Environments
- Secure Software Development: Solid experience in building secure software solutions with knowledge of Security Standards (DMTF SPDM, MCTP, PLDM), Cryptography, Platform Security, and Virtualization concepts
- Teamwork and Communication: Exceptional teamwork abilities, handling multiple assignments independently, and strong written & verbal communication skills for problem-solving collaboration
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject area, with multiple years of related experience
