We're excited to announce an opportunity at our new office in Boston for a talented Lead Cinematic Designer. This role is part of our team working on Project Orion - the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. Our Cinematics Team focuses on crafting highly interactive cinematic sequences using animation libraries and motion capture, creating a unique fusion of film and game.

You will be the driving force behind growing and maintaining an effective team of like-minded individuals, providing feedback, and nurturing the development of team members.

If you're as passionate about cinema as you are about narrative design and feel as comfortable with a camera as you do with visual scripting, then this is the position for you.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Leading the team to complete tasks on time and with high quality, and assisting team members in following and maintaining pipelines and technical requirements.
  • Creating scenes with excellent pacing, acting, cinematography, editing, and timing.
  • Working closely with the Cinematic Director to help design a unique scene system and establish cinematic vision.
  • Guiding team members to effectively utilize Unreal Technology.
  • Motivating and energizing the team members.
  • Fostering a team culture that reflects the company’s values and goals.
  • Making employment decisions.
  • Proven experience as a Manager or Lead.
  • Deep understanding of what creates great storytelling and how to use means of expression to create coherent and memorable interactive scenes and sequences.
  • Experience with narrative design and interactive storytelling, using visual scripting. 
  • Perfect understanding of acting including posing and timing.
  • Great knowledge of cinematography and editing.
  • Minimum 8 years of AAA games development experience (doing long-form projects from inception to completion), with at least 3 in a leading role.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Experience in using game engines: Unreal (preferably), Unity, Godot, REDkit etc.
  • Technical problem-solving.
  • Quick to adapt to company proprietary software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Genuine interest in the genre.
  • Experience with MotionBuilder/Maya.
  • Experience working with animation
  • Experience with MotionBuilder.

This job requires working in Boston, US.
Working mode: in-office in a hybrid or full-time capacity.
