We are now looking for a Lead Technical UI Designer to come join us in bringing the user interface of the next Battlefield to life. You will lead a team of Technical UI Designers (4-8). As a service-oriented leader, you will guide your team to build well thought-out features and systems using our proprietary Frostbite engine. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ship features to millions of players around the world. You will report to the Studio Experience Design Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor and support and a team of Technical UI designers (4-8), be part of hiring and onboarding new colleagues and outsourcing partners
  • Foster a supportive and learning culture, furthering best practices, improve workflows to allow for quick UI iteration
  • Collaborate with UI/UX leads, production, tech leads, and game developers across our AAA production team to align and deliver features following the art direction, gameplay goals, accessibility and technical standards
  • Build and evolve the UI component library in engine to create consistency across the product
  • Conduct and guide technical and design reviews, deliver constructive feedback and communicate technical constraints, support the team with technical advice and data structuring strategies, discuss technical feasibility and performance impacts with tech leads
  • Identify and communicate dependencies, risks and improvements, serve as first POC for new development, help estimate feature work, capture and reduce technical debt
  • Set up and maintain a sustainable testing and automation strategy along with subject matter experts
  • Build or bugfix features and UI systems depending on project needs

Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a AAA game production team through a release
  • 5+ years of professional game development experience, implementing UI in game engines using visual scripting
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for knowledge sharing and improving workflows
  • Team player with a strong technical understanding and an eye for details
  • An in-depth understanding of (UI/UX) design principles, typography, layout, motion, visual fidelity, input handling, localization, data binding, prototyping and debugging
  • Passion for games, accessibility, and developing inclusive player experiences
