Ubisoft Milan is looking for an experienced Level Artist to be involved in the creation of stunning and immersive game environments for a triple-A project.

You will be in charge of producing, optimizing and revising 3D assets for runtime/real-time purposes. Collaborating closely with the art and design teams, you will use your artistic expertise to craft visually engaging landscapes, intricate cityscapes and diverse terrains that reflect the creative vision of the game and to integrate the work into the game verifying that all the elements interact properly.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the game design documents to know the environments, objectives, atmospheres, story and style to create game levels.
  • Understand the visual references, respect the artistic direction and search for more detailed and specific graphic references for the level(s).
  • Integrate the objects and textures that are produced into the level.
  • Prototyping and finalizing of levels with a focus on believability, beauty, playability, mood and environmental storytelling.
  • Set level lighting, mood and weather condition.
  • Creation of high quality materials and 3D assets.
  • Close collaboration with other departments team to develop an exceptional player experience in visuals, gameplay and narrative.
  • Making sure all created graphical content meets technical requirements.
  • Able to interpret and follow concepts and reference material to create clean, detailed, and accurate 3D environments.
  • Understanding of technical constraints for cross-platform production.
  • Experience integrating 3D assets into industry-leading game engines such as Unity or Unreal.
  • Excellent knowledge of modeling programs such as 3DSMAX, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, and texture/material authoring tools such as Photoshop and Substance suite.
  • Experience with Houdini a plus.
  • Understanding of realtime lighting principles/best practices.
  • Attention to detail for both aesthetic and technical quality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with every department of a game development team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on results and driving projects forward.
  • Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to the project and a desire to find the best possible way of inspiring others.
