THE ROLE:
As the Manager, Power Management and Attainment in the Datacenter and GPU Accelerated Processing Division, you will be responsible for the System power management tuning and power measurements. You will interact with other key Pre-Silicon architecture, Board Engineering, Customer Engineering teams as well as Product Definition team.
We are responsible for extracting the maximum ROI from our power management features and debugging feature interactions that could harm the ROI. You will be driving a team of motivated engineers that is passionate about working on the bleeding edge products in the HPC/AI markets.
THE PERSON:
The ideal person for the Manager, Power Management and Attainment role will have excellent understanding of power fundamentals, impact of process and temperature variation on power, excellent communication skills, program management skills and critical problem-solving skills. They must be a self-starter and well organized. The manager will be expected to influence without authority and be comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical leadership of power optimization in datacenter platforms.
- Manage workstreams for active and static power characterization.
- Drive tuning and debug of power throttling controllers in GPUs/APUs.
- Excellent understanding of throttling techniques in GPUs and/or CPUs
- Execute ROI analysis of power management features and provide feedback to power management architecture team.
- Develop and mentor junior engineers into technical leads.
- Exhibit command over with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, high speed probes, function generator and data acquisition equipment.
- Ability to identify efficiency gaps and drive automation to cover those gaps.
- Provide weekly readout to executives on progress, blockers and next steps.
- Create resourcing and hardware plans for new generation of products.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of management experience in fast paced and ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated ability to execute on and deliver multiple projects in a timely fashion.
- Prioritizing work items in a fast-paced environment and escalating as necessary.
- Experience leading senior engineers/leads drawing from your own expertise/experience.
- Experience mentoring and growing junior engineers into future SMEs.
- Experience creating long range plans and budgets (OPEX and CAPEX)
- Creating and maintaining job descriptions for new hires and backfills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering. MS preferred.
