As Marketing Communications Lead (or Marketing Communications II as it's known internally), you will be reporting to our Marketing and Comms Manager. You will develop communications representing Riot and its leadership across owned and earned media. You'll master Riot's brand and executive voices and author communications that authentically reflect them. You'll collaborate with brand and community management, press and social media teams to share narratives in an authentic, player-focused way.

To achieve that, you’ll lead a team of agencies and will constantly work on identifying, planning and executing on those opportunities that will deliver the most impact to both potential and new players, as well as build strong processes to tangibly measure success. You’ll collaborate with teams across the globe with the goal of bringing the best possible experiences to Spanish, Italian and Portuguese players.

This is based onsite in the Barcelona office and is a contract role until December 2024

You are:

  • An expert in the craft and have a strong background in designing and coordinating high performing digital media plans (owned and earned media) and as good as you are in doing so, you’re even better at measuring its tangible impact.
  • An expert in the console platform world, with an established relationship with the different stakeholders required to succeed at launching videogames and maintaining them over time, ideally both in Spain and Italy.
  • Comfortable working with agencies to drive execution of programs and initiatives.
  • An active player in a community, and that has allowed you to have a deep understanding about the needs of each of the communities surrounding different video game genres which will allow you to distill product positioning to the right audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the strategy definition and drive execution of Social Media, PR & Comms strategy for defined key beats in the different games and markets, including products involving esports and entertainment.
  • Create and own implementation of Social, PR & Comms strategies with focus in console.
  • Connect and actively collaborate with 1st Parties to ensure success in launch & game maintenance related initiatives.
  • Secure positive coverage locally that builds Riot’s reputation as a player-focused developer to new audiences
  • Support the Brand team in developing and executing Go-To-Market plans that’d require craft expertise.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple teams (both regional and global) to create online social media and PR campaigns to drive player engagement.
  • Lead contractors and/or agencies that will help you achieve success through operational and tactical support.
  • Monitor performance metrics at a global level to help guide PR and social strategy and improve performance, and allow internal partners to better understand how their campaigns/content performed against internal and external benchmarks. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communication at an agency or in-house in the video game, technology, or entertainment industry.
  • Global or regional experience working at an international HQ or across multiple countries/markets.
  • Experience with crisis communications and responding to sensitive and rapidly-escalating situations in an assuring manner.
  • Experience in the console space, with established relationships across the different 1st parties.
  • Experience implementing successful marketing & communications campaigns with passionate audiences. 
  • Well versed in writing, with deep experience communicating the unique voices of individual executives and brands. 
  • Experience growing content pipelines (in-house and external/agency). 
  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish, Italian is a plus.
  • Familiarity with exercising great discretion as it relates to confidential information.
