THE ROLE:

The primary role of the Marketing Life Cycle Manager is to program manage, from planning to transition phase, worldwide marketing’s execution of new product introductions. The Marketing Life Cycle Manager is involved at the forefront of new product introductions for the Client (PC) business and will have the opportunity to witness firsthand how AI in PCs grows in the industry and at AMD.  As a program manager the Marketing Lifecycle Manager is responsible for engaging with key stakeholders to ensure alignment across Worldwide Marketing, and the Business Unit to define the appropriate strategies and plans across all phases of the marketing lifecycle of a new product. This includes driving engagement with key stakeholders to define and develop the following:  RACI, scope, deliverables, timelines, reporting and change management. 

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have proven program management prowess, business acumen, strategic agility, and ability to drive measurable results from a cross-functional team that does not report directly to them.  The ultimate candidate will have been forged by the following experiences:

  • Proven success program managing, for a high-tech company, multiple new product introductions in parallel
  • Leading, through influence and relationship building, global cross-functional teams while navigating the hybrid work environment
  • Perform strongly in a fast-paced environment where the opportunities and priorities change swiftly
  • Working directly or adjacently with marketing and/or product release
  • Exhibits interpersonal and leadership skills with a wide variety of people within an organization
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, and business acumen which the candidate can easily share with both peers and management

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be the advocate and leader of marketing lifecycle management for the Client (PC) business.  Driving stakeholders from the Client(PC) Business Unit, PC marketing and regional marketing teams to execute to a common definition of success.

  • Become the subject matter expert for the assigned area of the business (consumer or commercial pc business)
    • Participate in all relevant business unit meetings and represent/provide input from the marketing lifecycle perspective.  While also reporting back to the MLM and Integrated Planning & Strategy team the outcomes and decisions from the meetings.
    • Understand the overall marketing and business objectives for each product coming to market in your assigned segment (consumer or commercial pc business)
  • Help define strategies & product plans for each phase of the marketing lifecycle process
    • Influence product launch timelines to meet OEM customer timelines which are based on a standard workback schedule of milestones.  This includes the on-time execution of associated deliverables at the expected level of quality and completeness.
    • Manage the marketing life cycle process ensuring launch readiness and OEM customer preparedness.  This includes the following:
      • Ensure OEM enablement with on-time execution of key deliverables based on OEM’s milestones
      • Accurate & timely communication of the forecasted system availability
      • Knowledge of the OEM system transition plans between products in market and the new product coming to market
      • Regional activation plans communicated well enough in advance of launch to ensure cross-functional coordination and support of products hitting the market
    • Manage the marketing life cycle process ensuring each phase of the process and associated process gates are forecasted and executed on-time to drive successful launch and acceleration of AMD’s product into the market
  • Drive communication and Marketing Lifecycle process compliance
    • Act as the main interface for the cross-functional team supporting assigned new product inductions including effectively communicating the launch scope, requirements, expected timelines and execution status throughout the process.
    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams inside & outside the core team to ensure alignment with plan of record
    • Leverage the following central Marketing Lifecycle tools and procedures to ensure compliance with the Marketing Lifecycle process and consistency execution across the team:
      • Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Teams
      • MLM Playbooks & MLM Ops Guidelines & Governance documents

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant program management experience with examples of your proven program management prowess
  • Have worked directly or adjacently with marketing and/or product release teams.
  • Building a recommendation for product/commodity trade-off decisions for technical product concepts
  • Direct knowledge of PC industry technologies, future trends, and direct competition
  • Facilitating both small and large cross-functional team discussions with the goal to drive actionable results
  • Using Microsoft Office 360 suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams)

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, marketing, business or related fields
  • PMP Certification or similar program management certification (PgM, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA)
