Position at Creative Assembly

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate, and experienced Build Engineer, to join the team behind Total War, Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2, to create thrilling game experiences on a new project being built in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). This will be based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.

We’re building an agile team focused on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning, innovation and developing simple, powerful solutions and will bring a focus on delivering value to customers quickly. In this role you will iterate quickly not only on our technical solutions but also on our teams’ own practices and patterns of work to continuously improve our ability to support the project and develop amazing experiences with UE5.

Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

This role is Hybrid and has an expectation of one day every 2 weeks in our Horsham studio. This role would consider fully remote working within country of employment. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tools for a UE5 project
  • Be responsible for creating and delivering fresh builds of our game to the team, enabling fast flow and fast feedback at the project level
  • Integrate CI/CD, Test and Automation Systems into our build pipeline to support continuously better and faster feedback for developers
  • Participate in our team’s process of ongoing continuous improvement
  • Work closely with developers to help improve their processes and solve problems in active development on our UE5 project
  • Work closely with your team to further our team, project and studio values of continuous improvement, learning and rewarding, joyful work
  • Foster sustainable development by maintaining the health and simplicity of our portfolio of solutions
  • Partner, share knowledge and assist colleagues in their personal development
  • Have a tangible positive impact on the effectiveness of our team.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential
  • Experience with and/or strong interest in setting up automation of manual work
  • Experience and interest in coordinating complex systems
  • Strong interest in learning new technologies and continuing development of technical ability
  • Strong technical ability with competence in a variety of programming languages and development tools
  • Knowledge of and active interest in Software Delivery Performance, modern working practices and development methodologies (ToC, Agile, DevOps, Lean, SoPK)
  • Comfortable working in an innovative, experimental environment with an emphasis on rapid iteration
  • Passion for games development and making software development enjoyable.
Desirable
  • Experience with build engineering
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Passion for improving the way we work and finding new solutions to existing problems
  • Flexible mentality and desire to experiment
  • Interested in working in a generative, learning environment where experimentation and safety to fail are prioritised
