    THE MISSION:

    • Enable AMD to sell GPUs with AI capabilities to exceed and displace primary competitive solutions
    • Create powerful leading system platforms for emerging AI solutions and gain widespread market adoption among AI practitioners.
    • Partner with AI practitioners for use case development and market demand generation

     

    THE ROLE: GPU MI Architect   

    • Drive internal hardware/software co-design to results in implementations meeting requirements with high performance data processing and /or rendering systems. 
    • Along with driving software and hardware architecture requirements for today's industry leading GPU applications, you will interact with internal architects to generate systems that solve needed problems necessary to drive AMD sales of AI/HPC/Gaming hardware.

     

    THE PERSON:

    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, good coding skills are required.
    • Experience with the application of Machine Intelligence to real world problems, familiarity and use of current frameworks, software stacks
    • Experience with innovative research a forward looking 2-5 years
    • Proficient in English verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Contribute on new conceptual programming models and/or hardware MI architectures

    • Develop key use case scenarios for the use of AMD hardware and software in GPU MI markets

    •  

      Find new algorithms, or adaptations to existing algorithms, that will enable new ground-breaking capabilities with AMD HW/SW implementation
    • Analyze graphics and compute algorithms to identify performance limiters of hardware or software on pre-silicon and post silicon hardware
    • Implement and test architecture and specifications, to assure correctness and consistency with the algorith
    • Work with software, hardware, and architecture implementation teams to identify issues and improve performance

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • At least 4 years’ experience in architectural roles
    • Knowledge with hands on experience of key ML frameworks (TF, Pytorch, ..) and applications, optimizing performance of AI training/inference applications
    • Deep understanding of accelerator hardware microarchitecture, performance analysis and debugging
    • Up to date with ML literature, ready to guide where things may be going
    • Understanding how to optimize systems/solutions from an end-to-end customer TCO perspective: performance, power, cost, area, reliability, etc.
    • Ability to estimate performance of key workloads on specific architectures
    • Application of MI techniques to game, PC, server, or data center use cases
    • GPU driver architecture and GPU graphics programming knowledge
    • Strong programming skills in C or C++
    • Scripting language (Python, Perl) knowledge and UNIX/Linux experience is required
    • D3D, Vulcan and OpenGL graphics application knowledge and experience is a plus.
    • OpenCL/CUDA/ROCm development experience is a plus
