Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Firmware Engineer to Design, test, and/or optimize operating systems-level software, embedded systems, or firmware for the development of next-generation semiconductor products. Perform complex software engineering tasks to contribute to the development of firmware components (bios, security features, etc.), diagnostics, and/or solutions. Leverage firmware/system software development expertise to support verification, silicon bring-up, validation, and/or design testing, throughout various stages of the silicon design cycle. Work with cross-functional engineering teams to design, implement, verify, or test key features related to power management, system management, memory management, performance, or security. Help troubleshoot complex system level issues to ensure platform integration and HW/SW compatibility. Show technical leadership on defined portions of large collaborative engineering projects related to the development of AMDs next generation products. Communicate the status of product development projects and related interdependencies to management or senior engineers within the team.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related role

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related role

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

With either combination of education and experience, position requires two (2) years of experience in the following technologies and/or skills:

  • Automating test suites;
  • Java, JavaScript, Python, C, or C++;
  • Mathematical modeling, object-oriented design, data structures, or advanced algorithms;
  • Memory management, multi-threading, or low-level device drivers; and,
  • Linux, Unix, or real-time operating systems.
