I/O FIRMWARE ENGINEER 

 

THE ROLE: 

AMD's I/O firmware team is looking for a seasoned Firmware Engineer with an obsession for firmware. As part of the role, this engineer will work closely with other firmware engineers, BIOS developers, and hardware architects, designers and verification engineers across various IPs supporting cutting edge interconnect technology in both pre and post silicon environments.

 

THE PERSON: 

You are passionate about firmware development with creative and effective problem-solving skills, a motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in fast paced environments. You have excellent technical communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, develop, debug, verify and/or validate firmware, software and/or hardware 
  • Contribute and improve firmware and validation architecture
  • Participant in day-to-day firmware development work  and planning
  • Provide consultation to internal and external customers regarding AMD features and programming requirements 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 8 years of experience combined with technical education within the semiconductor industry 
  • Specialist in C, strong in C++ or Scripting languages.
  • Expert level experience producing quality firmware for deeply embedded applications
  • Experience working with Zephyr RTOS and other embedded RTOS environments.
  • Experience working with embedded microcontrollers (RISC-V, Tensilica, ARM, etc)
  • Experience with industry standard SERDES or IO interfaces (PCIE, SDXI, USB4)

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
