UNIVERSITY PROGRAM SOFTWARE ENGINEER

THE ROLE:

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our North America team.  You will join a team that is passionate about enabling academics with High Performance and Adaptive Computing technologies. In this position you will be working our latest hardware and software. You will make use of innovative technologies to help us to support and continuously streamline our engineering and business processes necessary to ensure that our academic customers have a great service.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enabling the use of High Performance and Adaptive Computing technologies in academia world-wide, with focus on North America
  • Creating teaching materials, labs, design examples, demos and application notes
  • Delivering technical training workshops to professors and graduate students on our latest hardware and software technologies
  • Collaborating with faculty and students on research and teaching programs
  • Collaborating with faculty on external funding opportunities and large programs
  • Developing technical projects and supervise intern projects as required
  • Supporting conferences, trade shows and customer-facing events
  • Supporting academic customer queries and technical issues
  • Collaborating with other teams at the company and external partners on academic programs
  • Contributing to the specification, evaluation, and development of systems for academic use
  • Identifying and disseminating examples of best practices in teaching and research
  • Keeping up to date with latest developments in the related markets and local industries
  • Managing of operations and special programs
  • Continuous process improvements and automation of operations 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with AMD High Performance and Adaptive Computing software and hardware development tools
  • Experience with general software programming, development, and test processes
  • Experience working in academic research/teaching setting, or alternatively, working as product, applications, or customer support engineer
  • Strong oral and written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills: comfortable working with cross-functional, remote teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, being a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and leading new initiatives
  • Willingness to travel as required by the needs of the position

An ideal candidate would also have:

  • Experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) and compute acceleration
  • Experience in Data Science, AI/ML infrastructure or applications development
  • Experience with design and programming of heterogenous systems (made of CPU, GPUs, FPGAs, and Adaptive SoCs), including bring-up and debugging
  • Experience with any of the following technologies:
    • C/C++, Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, HIP/ROCm, HLS, RTL/HDL
  • Involvement with open-source community
  • Experience developing successful technical proposals
  • Experience publishing and presenting technical papers at conferences

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Sciences, or related fields, or equivalent

LOCATION: San Jose, CA, preferred, or close to other AMD offices in North America
