Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Product Development Engineer to Develop and/or test electrical/electronic components and/or systems for semiconductor products. Design, develop, and/or lead activities for a specific product or group of microprocessor products (GPUs, CPUs, SoCs) from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Pre-silicon responsibilities include understanding product features, developing test plans, test creation, pattern debugging, characterization, data analysis, highlighting test coverage holes, and developing software and hardware infrastructure to execute plans. Post-silicon responsibilities include microprocessor debug & analysis and the execution of characterization plans. Optimization of test flows for increased quality and cost improvement. Analysis of part failures leading to test improvement. Analysis of characterization data across PVT. Serve as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifestyle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

With either combination of education or experience, position requires three (3) years of experience with the following:

  • Designing and debugging ATE probe and FT HW;
  • Scripting with Perl, Python, or Ruby;
  • Unix or Windows environments; and
  • Product development lifecycle for mass produced semiconductor devices such as CPUs, GPUs, or SoCs; Microprocessor test (ATE and system test and pre-silicon verification).
  • Requires one (1) year of experience with Functional validation of the Power Management and Thermal Features of processor.
