Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring an MTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations. Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Support, maintain, and upgrade code for software infrastructure associated with central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and/or system on a chip (SOC) device. Drive software optimization by suggesting designs, features, and/or modifications to improve functionality and performance of AMD’s products. Collaborate with cross-functional design and engineering teams on new product initiatives. Communicate the status of software development projects and related interdependencies to management or senior engineers in technical staff.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer engineering, computer science, electronics engineering, or electrical engineering.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required:  Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role. 

Alternate combination of education and experience:  Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in computer engineering, computer science, electronics engineering, or electrical engineering and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Must have three (3) years of experience in the following:

  • Performing software testing and verification;
  • Product development cycles;
  • Object oriented design;
  • Java or JavaScript;
  • SQL and Git;
  • Data Structures and advanced algorithms; and
  • Scripting with Python, Perl, or TCL.
