Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Software Development Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Duties include: support, maintain, and upgrade code for software infrastructure associated with central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and/or system on a chip (SOC) devices; drive software optimization by suggesting designs, features, and/or modifications to improve functionality and performance of AMD’s products; test software for hardware compatibility and/or to influence hardware design; analyze software performance, implement algorithms, and evaluate complex technical data to identify, debug, and troubleshoot issues; show technical leadership on small to mid-size projects and on definable portions of larger projects related to developing and advancing AMD’s technology; collaborate with cross-functional design and engineering teams on new product initiatives; and communicate the status of software development projects and related interdependencies to management or senior engineers in technical staff.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires education or experience with the following technologies and/or skills:
- Java, JavaScript, SQL, or Python;
- Database architecture, database modeling, or data warehousing;
- Advanced algorithms or mathematical models;
- ETL, data mining, or big data automation.
Employer will accept skills gained in furtherance of graduate -level degree via coursework, research, projects, internships, and/or theses. Skills may be gained concurrently.
