Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.
Amount and type of experience required:
Master’s degree in (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
3 years in the job offered or closely related software dev/engineering role.
With either combination of education and experience, employer requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills: Unix/Linux environments; CPU architecture, GPU architecture, SOC/system architecture, or computer architecture; object oriented design, memory management, or OS kernel & systems development; software debugging (macOS or Linux/Unix);and x86-64 architecture. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Alternate Education and experience accepted:
Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related software development/engineering role.
