Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS System Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for commercial use employing knowledge of electronic theory. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Coordinate test activities including bring-up of silicon and boards. Develop defect prioritization, root-cause resolution, and validation plans (including platform definition, system features and test requirements). Develop system test plans including BIOS, drivers, silicon’s, IO subsystems, power, thermal, and OS certification. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Must have three (3) years of experience with the following technologies and/or skills:

  • Developing firmware for core power management integrated circuits;
  • Performing firmware validation and verification;
  • Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;
  • ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis)
  • x86-64 architecture, SoC architecture, or computer architecture;
  • Object oriented design, memory management, or multi-threading; and
  • C, C++, Perl, or Python.
