The Role 

 

IREE is an open source, MLIR based, compilation stack that supports compilation of ML models on multiple target architectures, including NPUs. In this role, the candidate will help improve the stability and performance of the compiler stack used to target such NPUs developed within AMD. 

The Person 

This role is ideal for somehow who has prior experience in developing compilers or applications on embedded systems. The person must be able to understand the architecture of the device and help develop IREEs MLIR/LLVM-based compiler stack to be able to generate efficient code for such architectures. The candidate is expected to be able to program, debug and develop testing mechanisms to ensure the quality and performance of the code generated by the compiler stack. 

Key responsibilities 

 

  • Support and contribute to AMDs MLIR/LLVM based compilation stack to target NPUs. 
  • Ensure that the compiler stack has the abstractions and transformations required to be able to target the architecture efficiently. 
  • Keep up with planned changes to the architecture to ensure the compilation stack is ready to target future generations. 
  • Help develop tooling for testing to ensure the generated code is robust and performant. 
  • Contribute to and engage with open-source communities in LLVM, MLIR and IREE. 
  • Maintain high level of code quality and testing. 

Preferred experience 

 

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in computer science or related field. 
  • 3-5 years of experience on embedded systems development. 
  • Known history of contribution to open-source projects is preferred 
  • Prior experience in MLIR/LLVM is optional but preferred.
