The Role:
The client system Debug Lead will be responsible for post-Silicon debugging in the next generation of AMD's flagship server CPU products. In this role, you will facilitate the debugging efforts of a program to ensure the maximum debug throughput is achieved. The System debug lead will also help to drive improvements in the current product and future debug methodology by working with System Validation and Engineering teams and other stakeholders (System Architects, IP design, SoC, FW, SW, manufacturing). This is a hands-on job that involves doing system-level debugging to isolate system-level failures in a specific IP or domain. We work in the lab with a great group of experienced engineers, providing an ideal and fun environment for new engineers to learn and develop debug skill sets. The Person:
Passion for debugging and putting into debug strategy for the time to market is a key trait for a successful candidate. Computer architecture familiarity as well as the ability to script and code in Python/ruby scripting languages. Experience working with microcontrollers in a project environment helps candidates ramp up the work we do. We work in the lab with a great group of experienced engineers, providing an ideal and fun environment for new engineers to learn and develop debug skill sets. Key Responsibilities:
The technical, hands-on engineer responsible for client SoC Post-Silicon features validation and enablement at the silicon SoC level up through VBIOS, system firmware, and OS levels on AMD client products. This individual will be primarily responsible for interfacing with silicon, firmware, and platform design groups to develop and execute validation test plans for client SoC products during emulation and post-silicon bring-up / validation, to debug SoC feature issues, and to run and maintain validation infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure issues are solved on time with quality.
Lead complex debug efforts for internal Silicon findings to identify root causes and resolution.
Publish debug program indicators to identify major roadblocks and drive changes to improve debug throughput.
Evaluate at the end of every program milestone if the open issues are gating to go to the next milestone.
Manage and track technical issues, risks, and priorities.
Drive improvements to the debug process based on the program learnings.
Manage customer and executive communications, including program status, risks, and opportunities.
Preferred Skills:
• Deep experience in validation roles involving debugging OS, FW, Silicon, and HW issues.
• Understanding of X86 industry standard busses and their software stack, such as PCIe.
• Strong knowledge of X86 architecture, SoC design, memory, USB & power management
• Good understanding, of PC platform hardware, Operating System, Device Drivers, and System BIOS interactions.
• Detailed oriented, highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines.
• Lead and drive internal cross-functional teams to meet program deliverables and quality criteria according to program milestones.
• Manage and track technical issues, risks, and priorities. Manage customer and executive communications, including program status, risks, and opportunities.
• Good understanding of Jira, Confluence, and other project management tools
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Experience in Technical program management.
Academic Credentials:
Bachelors/master’s in computer engineering preferred
