Platforms Applications Engineer- System Solutions HW Electrical Design, DCGPU

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Platform Applications Engineer focused on System Solutions Hardware Electrical Design to join our Datacenter GPU System Solutions Team, to develop world-class hardware solutions in AMD Instinct series accelerators and systems. In this role you will be working closely with internal silicon architects, silicon design engineers, GPU board design engineers, key customers and industry partners to enable and optimize partner & customer HW design and drive customers time to market around round AMD EPYC and Instinct solutions. The HW PAE will have excellent communication skills, planning skills, technical expertise, broad technical leadership skills, and critical problem-solving skills. They will be market savvy, well versed in data center infrastructure and comfortable in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with AMD EYPC and INSTINCT processor silicon architects and design engineers, reference system design engineers, PAE Solution architects, Business Unit Product Marketing Managers and Business Development Managers to enable and optimize customers HW design based on AMD Instinct product lines for best performance & power balance, feature set and overall system cost. 
• Responsible for partner schematics capture, layout checking, signal integrity analysis, BOM checking/creation, debugging, and testing of Server / GPU module board/add-on card products
• Modify and enhance existing designs to improve the quality of Server / GPU modules boards
• Collaborate with engineering and other teams to discover and resolve any engineering issues in early stage to ensure the quality and performance of the products reach its full capacity
• Prepare technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, design guide, test procedures, etc.
• Ensure products conform to engineering specification, regulatory, and customer expectations
• Support customer to transfer products to manufacturing with clear documentation, and provide technical support to solve product problems
• Continue to influence and mentor junior engineers in the team

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• The HW PAE must have demonstrated the ability to be a constant force for innovation and improvement throughout their career.
• Technical subject matter leadership experience in a large, fast paced environment.
• Solid understanding of HW electrical design, signal integrity, simulation, analysis, design for test, and design for manufacture principles. Server Infrastructure design and Semiconductor device physics knowledge is a plus.
• Substantial experience in a customer-facing role across multiple functions within a large organization.
• Experience working seamlessly across engineering disciplines and geographies to deliver excellent results. 

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE:

• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering with extensive experience.  

LOCATION:

• Austin TX or Santa Clara, CA is preferred.
