Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring a PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Lead definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Serve as technical leader across project or departmental boundaries to develop ASIC/layout design, working on issues that impact design or selling success or address future concepts, products, or technologies. Responsible for product features and capabilities, closing architecture and micro-architecture requirements, technical specifications of the SoC and IP blocks to meet those requirements, and providing technical direction to teams. Comprehend the SOC as a complete system which includes HW (Silicon), FW, BIOS & SW and ensure that FW, BIOS & SW are aligned to enable all features, optimizing for performance and power. Work cross functionally with IP/Domain architects to identify and assess complex technical issues/risks and develop architectural solutions to achieve product requirements. Pre-silicon end to end verification of the complete memory subsystem spanning multiple JEDEC standards, including integration and verification of production firmware. Development of verification plans to reflect architectural and micro architectural direction of verification bench. Design test plan architecture and outline development with industry standard tools. Coverage architecture implementation strategy to reflect test plan strategy. Develop regression and triage strategy to expedite debug maintenance and turnaround time.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Six (6) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and eight (8) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires six (6) years of experience in the following:

  • Unix or Linux environments;
  • C, C++, or Python;
  • Graphics standards (DX, OGL, OCL, or Vulkan) and 2D and 3D graphics;
  • Architecture development for GPUs and performance analysis;
  • Performance modeling and early-stage power-performance estimation;
  • GPU programming and ray tracing; and
  • Pre silicon or post silicon bug resolution.
