THE ROLE: 

As an EPYC Server Customer Validation Lead / Lead System Engineer, you are the technical leader responsible for System and Post-Silicon Validation of the integrated CPU, BIOS & Firmware and plat-form hardware solutions. This includes hardware (CPU, memory, high-speed IO, sys-tems, and peripherals) and software (firmware, BIOS, drivers, OS, virtualization, system management, and applications). You will provide technical leadership across platform design, platform debug, firmware development, software development, system validation and performance optimization to meet customer program goals of quality platform delivery on schedule at target performance.

 

THE PERSON: 

As a Lead in Customer Validation / Systems Design Engineering, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software and systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.You must have experience both as a technical lead and/or a project manager and a strong understanding of the general server system development and/or silicon design process (preferably Datacenter CPU/GPU), from concept to tape-out and through production. Furthermore you should have experience with driving multi-disciplinary engineering teams across geographies. You must also have exceptional written and verbal communication skills at both the detailed engineering and executive levels.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives 
  • Debugging issues found during the process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of customer server system programs 
  • Develop and optimize validation matrix based on situations and resource/time contriants towards an targeted quality or coverage goal while leveraging automation as much as possible
  • Working with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time
  • Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams and customers

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 10+ years of silicon and/or server system product development experience
  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization 
  • Extensive knowledge of system architecture, debug techniques and methodologies, and validation strategy
  • Extensive experience in at least one of the domains include System Design, Board Design, BIOS development, BMC development, Diagnostic development, etc 
  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python) 
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.  
  • Experience with Linux and/or Microsoft Operating Systems, Hypervisors (VMware, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V, etc.), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments
  • Ability to structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary conclusions/recommendations to senior management and AMD customers / partners
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details 
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors and/or above degree in electrical or computer engineering or related majors
