PRE-SILICON FIRMWARE ENGINEER 
 
THE ROLE: 
We are looking for an experienced firmware engineer for pre-silicon FW development on new IP sub-systems. Projects focus around PCIe and related technologies for I/O virtualization, shared virtual memory, I/O security, storage, management & accelerators. As part of the role, the candidate will work closely with other firmware engineers, developers, and architects across various IPs.
 
THE PERSON: 
You are passionate about high quality firmware development with creative and effective problem-solving skills, a motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in fast paced environments. You have excellent technical communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the architecture, development and verification of IP sub-systems that contain a mix of HW and FW components.
  • Architect, prototype & develop embedded firmware on pre-silicon emulation platforms.
  • Performance and system-level analysis, optimization, HW bring-up and debug.
  • Implementing protocols to design specification.

 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Multiple prior years of related firmware experience combined with technical education within the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience with microcontrollers and embedded C/assembly programming.
  • Familiarity with multi-core firmware design and techniques.
  • Familiarity with RISC-V CPUs.
  • Experience with pre-silicon FW development environments including emulation and enterprise prototyping platforms such as Cadence Palladium/Protium & Synopsis ZeBu.
  • Familiarity with PCIe, CXL, UCIe and other I/O & memory related protocols.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Location: 

  • Vancouver, B.C. preferred.
  • Markham, Ontario is an option.
