Principal level - Memory IP & System Validation Engineer

 

This is not a new grad position.


THE ROLE:   
The AMD Server Memory Validation Team is looking for a dynamic, energetic Memory System Validation Engineer to join our growing team.  As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product portfolio, you will be part of a leading team,  driving and improving AMD’s ability to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Memory Validation team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

 

THE PERSON:  

As a Leader in Memory System Validation, PMTS engineers are expected to engage in critical debug activities, drive innovation in tools and methodologies, mentor junior team members, and provide input on key technical planning activities. In this high visibility position, your validation expertise will be necessary towards product development, validation execution, and root cause resolution.  

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   
As a Memory IP System Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and driving the execution of the memory subsystem validation for AMD server products. You will be involved in the planning of resources and schedule requirements, hardware and software requirements, validation test architecture and test plan development based on the memory IP features of the server products.

  • Develop and execute memory functional validation test plan and validation strategy for AMD server products.
  • Work closely with supporting teams in server design, memory IP development, firmware and diagnostics, for the purpose of ensuring readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of memory features during bring up, and debug of memory related issues throughout the development life cycle.
  • Participate in enhancing AMD’s memory validation capabilities, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Engage with the various memory suppliers and server customers in support of server system development and validation execution.

 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:   

  • Working knowledge of various DDR memory technologies such as RDIMM, LRDIMM, 3DS and NVDIMM.
  • Strong scripting skills (eg. Perl, Ruby, Python).
  • Extensive experience with debug techniques and methodologies.
  • Extensive experience with engineering lab equipment, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, signal generators, etc. 
  • In-depth knowledge of PC architectures and system technologies.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and customer facing interaction.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze data quickly is a must.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently in a dynamic team working environment.
  • Ability to flex responsibilities over the development lifecycle.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with focus on high speed interface technology, memory controllers and/or I/O controllers.
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following: post silicon Validation, memory system or IP validation.
